| Biography |
|
Bruce Newbold has been acting professionally for the past 25 years,
and has guest- or co-starred on television programs such as Hill
Street Blues, Touched by an Angel,
Highway to Heaven, Sisters,
Promised Land, Tour of Duty, Major Dad, L.A.
Law, Reasonable Doubts, Father Dowling Mysteries,
and General Hospital. In the spring of 2001 he finished filmwork
on a new Disney release, The Poof Point. He is well known among
LDS audiences for his work in the films, The Restoration of the Priesthood,
How Rare a Possession: The Book of Mormon, The Lamb of God, and
Testaments. In the fall of 2000 he finished filming a new LDS
production entitled, Believe on His Name, which tells the story
of Jesus Christ through the eyes of the Apostel Thomas.
His one-man dramatization of the life of Christ,
In Him Was Life, has been
performed before audiences throughout the United States and England.
In 1997 he accompanied the sesquicentennial Mormon Trail Wagon Train
from Omaha to Salt Lake City, writing and hosting the 14-part documentary,
Legacy West, which aired nationally on the Odyssey Cable Network,
as well as on select PBS stations. He was later commissioned by Bookcraft
Publishing Company to write a book about the experiences of the reenactment
wagon train. The book, entitled In Our Father's Footsteps, was
published in 1998. His secon one-man dramatization, Covenants
& Crucibles: A Handcart Saga, tells the story of the Martin
and Willie Handcart Companies. (Both one-man productions have been produced
on CD.)

Bruce Newbold and his family recently mjoved to Utah from
the Los Angeles area. He is married to the former Lisa Lindsay, and they
have five children. Newbold continues to act and write in the Salt Lake
City area, having recently been involved in Capital Media's interactive
CD-ROM productions,
Joseph Smith: The Seer,
Temples in the Latter Days, and
The Ownership Spirit.

documentary which was produced while Newbold followed the re-enactment
wagon train from Winter Quarters, NE, to the Salt Lake Valley. The fourteen
episodes aired nationally on the Odyssey Cable Channel, and on isolated

| 2005: Commissioned by Covenant Communications and Kevin Mitchell Productions to write and host the hour-long documentary, Joseph Smith: The Man, The Mission , The Message . The documentary, based on the book by the same title, honors the Prophet Joseph Smith, and details his upbringing, personal traits, devotion to family, humor, leadership, and his dedication to the mission to which he was called by God.

| 2000: Rerecorded IN HIM WAS LIFE in connection with his
Marriott Center presentation at New Testament Conterence for the LDS Church
Education System. Whereas the production was orginally recorded for audio
cassette usage, the 2000 rendition adds new scriptural material, and implements
music. With the new recording, listeners and teachers will be able to
access twenty-seven specific moments taking place during the life and
ministry of Jesus Christ. |
| 2000: Wrote and produced one-man presentation COVENANTS
& CRUCIBLES: A HANDCART SAGA. The production details many of the experiences
of the Martin and Willie Handcart Companies as they made their way westward
during that fateful trek of 1856. |
| 1999: Wrote screenplay, IN HIM WAS LIFE. Based on Newbold's
one-man performance, this details the life of Jesus, telling the story
of his life and ministry, from his birth to his resurrection. |

the mountains of China, he falls in love, and with the aid of ancient
Shawnee customs, utlimately finds his identity, and eventually restores
the peace long-since lost in his family. |

finalists of 1200 scripts entered in the Austin Heart of Film Festival,
1996. Optioned by Flat Iron Films, December, 1999. Synopsis: The discovery
of a 900-year-old baseball magically links a boy, a time traveler, and
a town "witch" to their ancient Irish past. |
| 1994: Wrote screenplay, SUMMER LAMBS . Optioned by Island
Park Productions, Los Angeles, 1996. Synopsis: Fleeing Nazism, a German
youth escapes to the U.S., and lives with in-laws until his forced return
to his homeland. Ultimately he finds himself battling, face to face, those
who befriended him in America. |
| 1992: Wrote screenplay, A SOFTENING OF CLAY . Synopsis:
Accused of murder, and having simultaneously lost his wife and youngest
son in an auto accident, a small-town cemetery manager finds peace in
the love and patience of his remaining six-year old son. |
| 1991: Wrote screenplay, THE KILLING OF FATTED CALVES. Optioned
by Island Park Productions, Los Angeles, 1996. Synopsis: A Jewish minstrel,
fleeing the pogroms of 19th century Russia, finds a Ukrainian infant purposely
abandoned by the child's bitter, envious grandfather. Knowing the child's
parents, yet realizing he cannot return the infant into such circumstances,
the minstrel raises the tiny boy, works to reunite the families, and seeks
the opportune time to return the child to his mother. |
| 1986: Wrote and produced one-man theatrical presentation
IN HIM WAS LIFE. The production is taken from passages of the King James'
Translation of the four Gospels of the New Testament, and tells the story
of the life of Jesus Christ. (The audio cassette, and the CD versions
of this performance are available, and were based upon this original theatrical
